William Wang – AI Pioneer & Founder
William Wang is a world-leading expert in artificial intelligence, specializing in generative AI and large language models. As the Founder, CEO, and Chairman of Alpha Design AI, he brings a wealth of experience from academia and industry, having previously shipped Amazon Q at Amazon AWS Bedrock (2022-2024). A Mellichamp Chair Professor of AI at UCSB, William has been recognized with prestigious honors such as the IEEE Laplace Award, BCS Karen Spärck Jones Award, NSF CAREER Award, IEEE AI's 10 to Watch, and the DARPA Young Faculty Award. His research has secured significant contracts in funding from industry leaders, including Meta, Google, Amazon, Intel, CISCO, Adobe, IBM, JP Morgan, and NVIDIA. His work has influenced cutting-edge AI applications, contributing to Apple's MGIE and Google's Gemini. Published over 250+ articles at premier AI venues and widely cited in top academic conferences and media outlets such as VentureBeat, Wired, and Fortune, William is at the forefront of AI innovation, driving the next generation of AI-powered semiconductor design and verification.
John Bowers – Electrical Engineering Pioneer & Founding Adviser
John Bowers is a world-renowned electrical engineer and silicon photonics expert, serving as a Founding Adviser and Board Member of Alpha Design AI. As the Fred Kavli Chair and Distinguished Professor at UCSB, he has made groundbreaking contributions to silicon photonics and optical communications, holding 73 patents and authoring over 900 journal papers. A member of the National Academy of Engineering, John has co-founded six successful companies, including Aurrion (acquired by Juniper) and Terabit Technology (acquired by Ciena), advancing high-speed fiber optic communication. His expertise spans both cutting-edge research and commercialization, bridging academia and industry to drive semiconductor and photonics innovation. With decades of experience shaping the future of electronic and optical systems, John plays a key role in guiding Alpha Design AI's mission to revolutionize chip design and verification.
