Mehir Arora, Head of Engineering and the first employee of ChipAgents, has been named a 2026 SEMICON West 20 Under 30 honoree, recognizing his contributions to innovative AI systems for accelerating chip design cycles.

The SEMI awards program identifies emerging leaders across the microelectronics supply chain who demonstrate leadership, collaboration, innovation and professional achievement. It recognizes young professionals working in engineering, research and development, and sales and marketing, with criteria that also emphasize community engagement and making a meaningful difference.

Mehir helped build ChipAgents from its earliest stages, designing the original product, working with early customers and contributing to the growth of its engineering organization.

His interest in AI started well before his work in chip design. In high school, a fascination with mathematics and calculus led him to build his own integration and chess engines. At UCSB, he developed a natural-language product recommendation system and met ChipAgents' CEO and founder William Wang through an entrepreneurship competition.

As advanced AI research became increasingly dependent on large-scale computing resources, Mehir focused on a different opportunity: applying advanced AI methods to consequential, unsolved industry problems. That pursuit led him to semiconductor engineering and ChipAgents.

As Head of Engineering, Mehir leads R&D across AI systems for semiconductor design, with a focus on domain-specific agentic systems, model training infrastructure and physical-intelligence tools. Mehir's ambition extends beyond making existing workflows faster. As chip complexity grows and manufacturing approaches physical limits, he sees an opportunity for AI to help engineers explore, test and develop fundamentally new approaches to chip design.
